Apparently some people felt misled about #23 and would have guessed correctly otherwise. The reason for feeling misled is because we have now received the updated bid list and Geneva wasn’t on there anymore. For this reason, we’ll give half points to anyone who would have guessed Geneva but didn’t. :)

Like I just said, the “high equity” bidders have been given their choices, so the list has been pared down. Some of the Iraq, Afghanistan and other bidders have chosen a few of our top choices, but that’s OK. We still have several we’d love to go to.

At the same time, we’re getting exhausted posting a new clue everyday, so the last 4 will be done all in one post. Actually, all but 1 of these 4 is off our list.

Good luck!

#24

The country was first named Osterrich. The Sound of Music was based in this country (I came up with that clue on my own.). This city lies at the edge of the Alps. The Nazis overtook this city during WWII. According to Wikipedia, this city is the last great capital of the 19th century ball, with over 200 balls held per year. Another “delicacy” is named after this city. It’s similar to the one from Frankfurt only it comes in a can. The world’s oldest zoo is located here, founded in 1752.

#25

This city is located on the River Seine. It is known for crepes and a particular type of bread. Why waste our time with all these facts. If there was a movie based on Judy’s life, it would be titled, “I’d Rather be in _____.”

#26

The name of the country in Portuguese means “the bearded one.” Like many British ex-colonies, Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state of this country. To the south lies Trinidad and Tobago. The British established this city in 1628 following the settlement at James Town. This city is the only one outside the continental North America that George Washington visited. The town was formally called the Town of Saint Michael. (This is the only 1 of the 4 still on the updated list.)

And the last one, #27

For those following along, we’ve already posted about two other cities from this country. This city has the same “suffix” as #26, although this city is two words and #26 is one word. The city was originally founded to be a supply stop as ships traveled eastward. According to Wikipedia, one of its sister cities is Galveston. It is the legislative capital of the country.
