Hey y’all.
We had a happy Mother’s day around here! The boys made me cards and got me an address stamp for our new address (which still doesn’t seem like a reality with all of this waiting but that is a whole other post)! We spent most of the day Sunday with friends at a mountain restaurant with a big park for the kids and traditional Swiss food! It was fun having Seth’s mom along to experience some Swiss scenery before heading back to the US.

Mia had rosti for the first time! It had bacon, cheese and onions! very yummy! She couldn’t finish her giant skillet so we all helped her a bit!

the mommas and kids! Feeling very blessed!
other updates…
We are settling back into a routine..well not really. Seth’s mom left yesterday morning and I hit the ground running cleaning the house and knocking some things off the neglected to do list. Seth woke up Saturday morning with pink eye and because it is now in the second eye and still very red his boss asked him not to come in. He asked if he could go in before everyone else and get some stuff knocked out but it sounds like everyone is really scared of getting it, which is understandable because it is miserable. So, we are hoping he can go back in tomorrow and not feel completely swamped. Oh yea, and we are praying that none of the rest of us get it.
In other news, our friends back in Virginia knocked our socks off a few weeks ago and surprised us by going to our new house and working on the yard. They weeded, mulched, and generally spruced the place up! I know our neighbors appreciate it! It actually came at a time when I was feeling so desperate to just get there already and get to work. And they stepped in and played us for a little while. Y’all are awesome! Can’t wait to see you all soon.

A huge congrats to my friend Leigh! A little less than a year ago she and her family left missions work in Germany to return stateside. Just yesterday they moved into their new home in Waco! Praying that they get settled quickly and love their new home!
And last but not least, the big blood pressure raiser these days is that it’s less than 3 weeks now that until the packers come! I’m taking advantage of having my pink eye guy so I can sort the last few closets and work on some pending projects!

Yesterday we joined friends in celebrating their daughter Anna’s first birthday! They decided it might be fun to hike to the glassbrunnen which is just on the other side of Bern. It is a spring that runs through the woods and according to our Swiss expert there is no known source for this particular spring. Turns out I got 90% people pictures and not one of the fresh spring.
We met late morning and walked through the woods to the spring. When we arrived we found a spot to begin collecting wood and building a fire for a bbq. We have to remember to do things like this is VA because it’s so easy to overlook what’s in your own backyard!

Owen wasn’t quite himself yesterday…turns out he woke up this morning with another stinky cold…or rather he was up throughout the night unable to breath and coughing.

stick bread!

the birthday girl!

every trip to the woods requires at least one child to have a potty emergency, right?!

we felt like we were in an episode of Pioneer Woman! I just watched her make banana boats on her show a few weeks ago! turns out they do them here too! yum!

Happy Birthday, Anna! Congrats to Daniela and Miguel for surviving your first year as parents! Thanks for including us in your birthday adventure!

Last year we had a house full of chicas for a fun week! I braved heart-shaped whoopie pies which was fun but very time consuming!! This year I decided to skip the whoopie pies and we started the day with pink waffles, whipped cream and strawberries for breakfast. The boys were delighted and that started the day off with HIGH energy! They managed to sustain that energy until Seth walked in from work at around 5:30.

I tried to defuse the wildness by plopping down on the couch with a stack of books. I went through our stack of books on the shelf and pulled out all of the love books just to make it extra enticing and festive for V day. It lasted a few minutes and then they were back to wild. We filled our day with making cut out cookies, playing with friends and ended the day with a heart shaped pizza for dinner. No candlelight in this house this year! This year with the chaos of our schedule we just decided to make it a family gig and postpone the romantic dinner until the dust settles. (Did I mention we are considering gutting a foreclosure house?!….the dust abounds right now)

We have a long way to go on our journey of learning to love each other well but I hope our little family celebrations teach the boys a bit about loving each other better! I hope each of you had a happy Valentine’s Day wherever you may be!
We are heading to the mountains tomorrow thanks to a day off for Seth and some generous friends who offered to lend us their chalet in Grindelwald. Hopefully I will be back Monday refreshed and with lots of pictures!

Disclaimer: Readers may want to secure a Starbucks Peppermint mocha before sitting down to look at this post…oh no, I forgot those are only a holiday special. I totally understand if you don’t make it to the end. The good news is if you make it through this new things are on the horizon!
After our busy first week in Friendswood and the farm we headed on to Ft. Worth. We arrived on the 23rd of December just in time for the Christmas festivities. We spent Christmas Eve at a candle light service and then went on to my sister-in-law Tina’s family celebration. Tina’s mom, Lisa, had a wonderful spread and when Santa lit firecrackers on the front door step the boys found gifts just like the rest of the family. They included us like family. The next morning we got up early and did Christmas morning with the boys, my parents, and my brother Graham and his wife, Tina. It was a fun week and a half of time together….with way too much food!

Owen was SO tired and kept raiding the goodie table at Craig and Lisa’s. Here he is playing it cool with his 4th sugar cookie!

Santa brought Jackson his much asked for cowboy boots!!

my dad had hand surgery so Tina was sweet enough to cut his prime rib for him!

dance lessons from the family’s best dancer

Owen’s name has been added to my parents will…Bogie will go to Owen if necessary! They were besties!

antipasto platter at Nona Tata….a fun little place in Ft. Worth. Graham and Tina took us out for a fun dinner while my mom and dad had a night with the kiddos! Thanks, mom and dad!

post hair cute curl horns

We missed having my brother Ryan and my sister-in-law Stephanie and their kiddos around! So we swung by DC on our way to Bern…

Whew. And if we didn’t look busy enough we slipped in a meeting with a realtor in DC to begin the process of house hunting…more on that to come in the New Year! Not even ready to talk about that yet!
